Seo Eve, who popularized “Malatanghulu”, made this decision after enduring sexual harassment

On July 1st, Seo Eve’s agency Soon Ent stated, “Unfounded malicious posts directed at Seo Eve have reached a very serious level.“
After careful consideration with a law firm, the agency filed a lawsuit on June 21st for violations of the Act on the Protection of Children and Youth from Sexual Offenses and defamation.

The agency warned, “Given that severe posts have been directed at the underage artist, we will strongly pursue legal action to protect the artist’s rights.”
They added, “We are continuously and in real-time collecting evidence using all available means with multiple personnel, including a law firm.”
The posts and comments targeted for the lawsuit were collected from various portal sites and communities such as Nate, Theqoo, DC Inside, Instiz, Ilbe Storehouse and Naver, as well as social media platforms.
The attorney handling the case explained, “Writing malicious posts or comments is a criminal act and can result in criminal penalties such as fines if found guilty.”

The agency further stated, “Although it may take several months to over a year from the filing of the lawsuit to the conclusion of the investigation, we will persistently work to eradicate severe criminal acts such as sexual offenses and defamation against the underage artist.”
Finally, they emphasized, “We will respond strongly and without leniency to those who have infringed on the artist’s rights under any circumstances.”
